4 Reasons To Visit Central Park

In case you haven’t heard – it’s the summer of New York! There’s no better way to celebrate than to check out our list of 4 reasons to visit Central Park.

Why did we pick Central Park? Well, it’s massive (842 acres) and there’s so much to do and see! Plus, the park comes alive in the summer months.

NYC is full of iconic stomping grounds, but Central Park ranks up at the top. That’s why we wanted to share our list of 4 reasons to visit Central Park this summer. Will you check these Central Park spots off your must-see list?

Music In The Park

Nothing screams ‘summertime’ quite like outdoor concerts. And this summer, SummerStage has something for everyone.

Tickets are not needed for the free concerts. But they are first come, first serve. All other shows will require you to have purchased your ticket ahead of time. You can view the 2021 SummerStage Performer Schedule to plan which shows to see.

You can also follow SummerStage’s Instagram account for updates to their lineup. Then grab a picnic dinner to enjoy in the park before the show!

Theater In The Park

Another one of our top 4 reasons to visit Central Park is outdoor theater. And we previously waxed poetic about Shakespeare in the Park when we gave you an Outdoor Performing Arts Cheat Sheet.

This summer, they are staging a production of Merry Wives (an adaptation of The Merry Wives of Windsor) through August 18, 2021.

Have you had a chance to check out a free show yet? If not, you can go here for tickets. You can also check out who’s in the cast and learn more about the Delacorte outdoor theater here.

Needless to say, Shakespeare in the Park is one of the New York ‘things’ that you must experience at least once. Great weather + great performances = a great New York night.

Fitness In The Park

If you’re looking for something active then you can definitely get your fitness on in the park. Central Park is the ideal spot for a morning run, walk, and yoga. And depending on the summer sun – that may turn into hot yoga!

Central Park has helpful guides if you’re looking for information on volleyball, rollerblading, biking, and more. There are sunrise yoga walks, vinyasa yoga classes, and group park runs that you can read about here.

[Central Park 5K Fun Run]

One notable run is the 5K Fun Run through the park. For a small fee, you can sightsee while getting in your daily run on this guided tour. Fun fact: this tour was the winner of the 2020 Trip Advisor Travelers Choice Award!

Central Park Zoo

If animals are your thing, then you should stop by the Central Park Zoo. [Sea] lions, and tigers, and bears – oh my!

The Central Park Zoo is home to over 130 different species including red pandas, penguins, snow leopards, and much more. You can visit the Central Park Zoo’s site to see all of their featured species. But let’s be honest, the penguins are the best, right?

Regardless of which species you want to visit at the zoo, one thing remains – visiting the zoo brings out the kid in all of us. Just be sure to purchase your tickets in advance here before visiting.

Wrapping Up

We’ve given you our top 4 reasons to visit Central Park this summer, but there are so many more. If you haven’t had a chance to experience all the park has to offer, this is your chance.

After a long day of work or studying, you need a break. Central Park is your great escape in the city, from the city. And because the park is full of life and activity in the summer, it’s a perfect adventure.
