1. Brighton Beach

Brighton Beach is a great day-trip destination when you’re looking for a mini escape from the city. You can walk the boardwalk, sunbathe, and dip in the Atlantic when the sun gets too hot to handle. Brighton Beach is home to one of the largest Eastern European communities in New York and it’s reflected in the restaurants that populate the area. 2. Coney Island

Coney Island is widely known for its annual 4th of July Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog-Eating Contest. But it’s also a great destination if you want something fun to do oceanside. A quick train ride will drop you off at this iconic seaside amusement park that rests on 3 miles of beaches. Ride the rides, visit the aquarium, grab a hot dog, and enjoy the people watching that comes along with it. 3. Jones Beach State Park

Another world-famous NY beach is Jones Beach, located on the south shore of Long Island. Its 6.5 miles of soft, sandy beach offer you a vacation away from the city for a day. If you’re looking for relaxation, this is worth the fare to Long Island. Outside of sunbathing and swimming, there are great restaurants, mini golf, and a concert venue as well. 4. Long Beach

Long Beach is an easy destination via the LIRR from Penn Station. After your short train ride, a day pass is all you need to enjoy this beautiful Long Island beach. Another great day trip destination is Rockaway Beach! Rockaway Beach is the only legal surfing beach in New York, so if you’re looking to ride the waves, this is where you want to be. 6. Fire Island

Fire Island is a beautiful and serene destination that will entice you to stay for more than a day. There are many hotels on the island, but you will want to be sure to book ahead of time.
